2023 September Earnings Report

As many of you now know, I spent the month of September in due diligence on my most recent acquisition.

Announcement coming in my next article…

With that in mind, I’ve been diligently taking on fewer consulting clients in order to spend the necessary time working through the first few months of this acquisition.

It’s a bit scary.

I’ve gotten used to the consulting life.

I was getting comfortable bringing in $30k-$40k a month and having a ton of flexibility as I worked with customers.

The last few weeks have led me to question myself a lot… WTF am I doing?

^^ Exactly how I feel haha

Maybe that’s a tiny glimpse into how the first few weeks of this acquisition have gone. 😳

Regardless, it’s brought perspective.

It’s allowed me to have gratitude for the opportunity to get to do what I do every day.

I feel so lucky to have the freedom and flexibility that I have.

To spend time with my family the way I want to.

To work with people I love on interesting things.

To be able to shift my focus and scratch an itch on any project that I’d like to at any time.

One thing I find most joy in is helping others figure out how to forge their own path out of a W2.

Im guessing that’s why many of you are here.

With that said, I’m so grateful you’re here and reading this.

I want to double down here.

This blog has officially crossed 4,000 subscribers and I can’t express how grateful I am you are willing to give me space in your busy inbox. (+1,000 in the last 30 days!)

My only intention here is to share as many details as possible, in hopes that you might be able to diversify your streams of income, and reduce your dependency upon a single employer.

I’ve had countless conversations with friends, colleagues and peers, who wake up on any normal workday only to discover they are getting let go.

The pressure and toll that takes on a family, on a relationship is heart wrenching.

If I can leave you with any hope, it’s to be resilient. Know that there are other options and paths to good a great living.

I’d argue there’s more stable, recession resistant and freedom in the path that I am choosing.

I believe many can do it. Regardless of experience.

There’s many different paths in acquisition entrepreneurship.

My path and my acquisitions are only one way.

The option I am choosing is small businesses, old, high revenue, high margin, very few, if any, employees.

For me, it’s not about making the most money. It’s about building a portfolio of small businesses around my lifestyle.

It’s about being able to provide the luxuries that my family enjoys and still getting to choose when I work, how I work and with whom.

Ok. Enough ramble…

A few highlights for September:

  1. Finished due diligence on acquisition #2. Man, a lot to write about here. Details in next article
  2. Committed to hiring a VA or EA (what’s the difference? Isn’t most people virtual?)
  3. Preparing to ramping up help with multiple things. Excited most about this, believe I can increase output significantly with projects that I want to work on

Harber Holdings:

Gross Revenue: $37,610.33 (all in top line)
Net Revenue: $33,534.33 (89% net margins)

Number of income streams: 4

Consulting:

Gross: $22,376.33

Net: $21,930 (65% of total net)

Vending:

Gross: $8,819

Net: $5,189 (15% of Total Net)

Partnerships:

Gross: $3,443

Net: $3,443 (10% of total net)

Courses:

Gross: $2,972.00

Net: $2,972.00 (8.8% of Total Net)

Really stoked about the % of net from each of these. The focus here is to diversify the net income across multiple channels.

Vending was a bit slower than usual (~$1k short on gross) because I had a machine go down with a card reader and multiple locations I have shut down for cleaning for 4 days (rec centers). All good, still an amazing business.

Courses - course is going live in the next week. A lot of work goes into these things. Excited to ramp this up and try to help others build a side hustle selling their services online. Use code: SUBSTACK for $50 off.

Thanks for reading a long. I love to hear from you all. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. My VA starts next week so I should have a bit better responses ;-)
